LBW Import

2025

This involves the import of Plant libraries that were originally offered as commercial products for the Laubwerk plugin. As of Cinema 4D 2025.3, the Laubwerk functionality for easily configuring and adding 3D plants and trees is an integral part of the program, and the plants available via it are automatically installed in the Asset Browser.
If you were previously a Laubwerk customer and therefore still have older Plant libraries that may not currently be part of the Asset Browser orare not included in your subscription, these separately purchased Plant libraries can still be loaded. Here you will find the corresponding default settings for how loaded .lbw and .lbw.gz files should be handled. Otherwise, these specifications for the import are also displayed again directly when a corresponding Laubwerk Plant file is opened.

If you have already purchased and installed your own Laubwerk Plant archives in the past, these can be found in these directories by default:

If you are using it under MacOS, please note that the Library folder is usually hidden there. To display this in the Finder, open the Finder's Go menu while holding down the Alt key. As a result, the Library folder is also displayed in the list of standard directories.

Within the folders for the individual plant species stored in these directories, you will also find files with .lbw or .lbw.gz extensions, which can be imported using the Open command in the File menu.

Note:

Only use the .lbw or .lbw.gz files that are located directly in the respective plant folders and not the separate files that are stored in the respective models subfolders, for example. These do not contain all the information of a plant and therefore cannot support the usual configuration options of the Plant Object.
The following illustration shows an example of the file to be loaded in the directory of a plant for the Windows operating system.
