Volume Object Field Layer

This field establishes the connection between the fields and the Cinema 4D volumes. You can therefore use volume generators, volume sets, volume objects etc. directly in the field list. Remember: Objects that consist of voxels are grid-shaped objects that have a value for each voxel. These values can be read ("sampled") from a volume object layer and used via effectors, deformers, tags, etc. to create an effect.
Objects of the "Fog" type can usually be used directly (as they have values in the range 0 to 1). It is somewhat more difficult with the "Distance Field (SDF)" type, as its voxel values lie outside the range 0-1. We therefore recommend the following:
- Deactivate the value clipping for the Volume Object Field layer ("Restrict" button).
- Deactivate the two options Clamp Min and Clamp Max in the "Remapping" tab of the Volume Object Field layer (Max may also need to be adjusted there).
Volume objects can either:
- can be selected when calling up the Volume Object Field in the view or in the Object Manager.
- or dragged and dropped directly into the field list.
Example
In this scene, the essentials take place in the Polygon Selection Tag of the layer: a Volume Object Field Layer is used there as a field, which serves as a selection for the orange material.
