Spline Mask

The spline mask corresponds to a Boolean object for splines. You can use it to cut out and join spline shapes, etc. This works best if the splines are flat and lie in the same plane.

A very nice tool for quickly creating new spline shapes. You can place the spline mask object wherever you would place a normal spline, for example:

In addition, any (closed) spline shape can be displayed polygonally.

A spline mask can be converted into a spline or a polygon object (if Create Caps is activated) using the Make Editable or Current State to Object command.

More than 2 splines can be assigned to a spline mask. The target spline is always the first one under the spline mask object:

The first sub-object of the spline mask is always the target spline (here Mode A minus B). All other splines are cut out of the target spline here.

In some modes - such as the subtraction modes - the target spline is important, in others (e.g. Union) it is not, where the order of the subordinate splines does not matter.

Note:If unexpected effects such as uncleanly cut shapes occur, change the spline interpolation types of the splines involved to Natural, for example, and increase the intermediate points.
2. Note:All Boolean modes of the spline mask are also available as separate commands that can act on selected splines (then without a "detour" via a generator).

Example

In the following scene, a few simple basic spline objects are combined using the spline mask.
