Both faulty polygons each have 2 congruent points. Polygon meshes need to meet certain standards depending on the intended purpose (e.g., 3D printing). Therefore, it would be very useful if a tool were available that displays faulty elements. This is exactly what the Mesh Check command does (located in the **Attribute Manager**’s Mode/Modeling menu). Faulty elements will be shown in specific colors on selected polygon objects. These elements are counted and can also be selected. This can also take place in real-time so the faulty geometry is displayed while the mesh is being created. > **Tip:** Limitation:The mesh check only counts triangles and quads, i.e., if you have an uneven N-Gon made up of 7 triangles, the check will also display 7 uneven polygons (even if these are partially even). ### Check Mesh Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_ENABLED` Enables or disables mesh checking. ### Isolated Points Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_POINT` ### Color Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_POINT_COLOR` ### >> Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_POINT_SELECT` Enable this option if points that do not belong to any polygon (e.g., those remaining after a polygon surface has been deleted) should be colored accordingly. Using the **Color** function, flawed elements can be marked accordingly in the Viewport. **Select** switches to the correct element mode and selects flawed points, edges or polygons. ### Complex Poles Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_POLEPOINT` ### Color Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_POLEPOINT_COLOR` ### >> Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_POLEPOINT_SELECT` Enable this option if points that belong to more than 5 polygons should be colored accordingly. Using the **Color** function, flawed elements can be marked accordingly in the Viewport. **Select** switches to the correct element mode and selects flawed points, edges or polygons. ### Edge Points Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_EDGEPOINT` ### Color Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_EDGEPOINT_COLOR` ### >> Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_EDGEPOINT_SELECT` Enable this option if points that lie on an N-gon edge (Viewport: Filter / N-gon Lines (the turquoise lines)), and meet the criteria described in the **Point Threshold** description below, should be colored. Using the **Color** function, flawed elements can be marked accordingly in the Viewport. **Select** switches to the correct element mode and selects flawed points, edges or polygons. ### Edge Points Angle Threshold Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_EDGEPOINT_THRESHOLD` · Range: [0..180°] The points mentioned in the previous description will first be marked when the angle to the neighboring points deviates by this value at the maximum. This means that if you have N-gons that have too many points, i.e., points that lie on edges but have no effect on the object's shape, these can be deleted. This setting can be used to locate these points. ### Edge Count Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_POLE_MIN` · Range: [5..2147483647] For **Complex Poles**, this setting defines the minimum number of converging edges required to constitute a complex pole. ### Non-Manifold Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_MANIFOLD` ### Color Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_MANIFOLD_COLOR` ### >> Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_MANIFOLD_SELECT` Enable this option if edges that belong to more than 2 polygons should be colored accordingly. Using the **Color** function, flawed elements can be marked accordingly in the Viewport. **Select** switches to the correct element mode and selects flawed points, edges or polygons. ### Boundary Edges Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_BOUNDARY` ### Color Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_BOUNDARY_COLOR` ### >> Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_BOUNDARY_SELECT` Enable this option of edges that belong to only one polygon should be colored accordingly. Using the **Color** function, flawed elements can be marked accordingly in the Viewport. **Select** switches to the correct element mode and selects flawed points, edges or polygons. ### Bad Polygons Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_POLY` ### Color Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_POLY_COLOR` ### >> Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_POLY_SELECT` Enable this option of collapsed polygons or polygons with congruent points should be colored accordingly. Note that for safety reasons, polygons can be classified as bad polygons even if their points only lie in close proximity to one another (e.g., in order to prevent shading artefacts). Using the **Color** function, flawed elements can be marked accordingly in the Viewport. **Select** switches to the correct element mode and selects flawed points, edges or polygons. ### Not Planar Polygons Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_NORMAL` ### Color Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_NORMAL_COLOR` ### >> Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_NORMAL_SELECT` Enable this option if points whose points to not all lie on a plane should be highlighted. Using the **Color** function, flawed elements can be marked accordingly in the Viewport. **Select** switches to the correct element mode and selects flawed points, edges or polygons. ### Planarity Threshold Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_NORMAL_THRESHOLD` · Range: [0..180°] This threshold value applies to **Uneven Polygons** and defines the minimum angle (i.e., when the angle of triangulated quads and N-Gons to neighboring polygons exceed this value) at which an uneven polygon should be marked as such. ### Triangles Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_TRIANGLE` ### Color Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_TRIANGLE_COLOR` ### >> Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_TRIANGLE_SELECT` > **Tip:** Tip:**Triangles** and **N-Gons** do not belong to the faulty polygon elements. Nevertheless, they can be displayed and selected here Activate this option if you want to highlight triangle polygons with a given color. The **Color** option can be used to mark triangles in the Viewport. **Select** can be used to switch to the desired element mode and select the triangle's points, edges or polygons. ### Ngons Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_NGON` ### Color Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_NGON_COLOR` ### >> Parameter ID: `MESH_CHECK_NGON_SELECT` Activate this option if you want to highlight N-Gons with a color The **Color** option can be used to highlight N-Gons with a given color in the Viewport. **Select** can be used to select the desired element mode and select the N-Gon's points, edges or poloygons.
