# Illustrator CC import

> This page documents the **Illustrator CC / PDF import** in **Cinema 4D**. It loads modern .ai and PDF vector files — optionally as a parametric Vector Import object whose source artwork stays adjustable.

If the **Create Vector object** on import option is enabled (Tab: Filter), an advanced setting is offered (see also [Vector Import](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/OARTSMART.html.md)). The primary difference is that this setting has a parameter field in the Attribute Manager. These parameters are described in detail below. In short, they make it possible to fine-tune very precisely.
