# Folder

> This page covers the **Folder layer** in **Cinema 4D**'s Field system. It groups layers into a collapsible unit with its own blending and masks — structure for large Field lists, processed bottom to top like the list itself.

Each folder can contain subordinate Layers (that are processed from bottom to top within the folder - like the Field list itself). Selected list elements will be placed into the Folder when the Folder is created.

Fields can be added to the Folder's **Layer** tab to modify the Folder's effect (e.g., to restrict it using a Spherical Field).
