It casts a ray at geometry and reports hit position, normal and more — the raycast primitive for scanning, aiming and placement logic. This function has certain similarities with the [Geometry Collision](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/NET_MAXON_NBO_NODE_COLLISION_GEOMETRY.html.md), except that you only need one geometry here. Instead of a second geometry, a calculation ray is used that you can direct at the geometry. Where the ray hits the geometry, information such as the position of impact, the index number of the polygon or its normal can be determined. ![Image: 046027.jpg](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/Resources/Images/046027.jpg)\ This node calculates the intersections of a line with an object. Here, a red ball is placed at the first intersection between a cube and a virtual line between the two white spheres.
