# Color Mapper

> This page describes the **Color Mapper modifier** of the particle system in **Cinema 4D**. It assigns particle colors randomly, from particle properties or through Fields — and since color can drive other modifiers, it doubles as a versatile control channel.

This *Modifier* can be used to assign color values randomly, relative to a selected particle property or based on field influence areas.
