It grows, subdivides and transforms splines parametrically — including L-system turtle grammar — for animated writing, vines and algorithmic curve structures. ![Image: 024341.jpg](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/Resources/Images/024341.jpg) The MoSpline is a special Spline generator with which you can: - grow squiggly, flower-like spline shapes - animate growing splines, e.g., a [Text Spline](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/OSPLINETEXT.html.md) object. The following methods can be used to render visible Splines: - Make it and the Spline that defines the contour a Child of a [Sweep](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/OSWEEP.html.md) object ([2-Rail](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/OSWEEP-ID_OBJECTPROPERTIES.html.md) option disabled). Note the value that defines the diameter [Width](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/OMOSPLINE-MGMOSPLINEOBJECT_GROUP_BASIC.html.md)). - For Sketch and Toon you can enable the [Splines](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/VPTOONUP-OUTLINEMAT_GROUP_LINE.html.md) option or add a HAIR material to the Spline using the HAIR functionality. - To create growing, plant-like structures (an [L-System](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/OMOSPLINE-MGMOSPLINEOBJECT_TURTLE_GROUP_TURTLE.html.md) has been integrated) Just as with any other Generator, the **MoSpline** object can be made editable by pressing the **c** key on your keyboard, which will transform it into a normal Spline . # EXAMPLE 1 The **MoSpline** object can be used wherever Splines are used. Objects can be positioned onto a **MoSpline** object using the **Cloner** object. If the **Cloner** object in turn also clones MoSplines the following plant-like structure can be created: ![Image: 024342.jpg](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/Resources/Images/024342.jpg) So how was this structure created? The initial **MoSpline** was used to create the circular dispersion of the "base" Splines, onto which the **Cloner** object then arranges the flower-like **MoSpline**. Two additional Effectors were used to achieve the final effect: - [Random](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/OERANDOMIZE.html.md): Creates a random rotation of the flower-like **MoSplines** - [Shader](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/OESHADER.html.md): Uses a circular gradient to scale the **MoSplines** from the center outwards [![Image: halvar.png](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/Resources/Images/halvar.png)](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/Resources/Scenes/2025-2_MoG_39_.c4d) # EXAMPLE 2 An interesting effect can be achieved by adding a MoSpline to a [Spline Wrap](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/OMOGRAPH_SPLINEWRAP.html.md). Since [Force Objects](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/5456.html.md) can be made to affect MoSplines, objects can be made to sway in the wind, for example: [Video: 2025-2_MoG_40_.mp4](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/Resources/Images/2025-2_MoG_40_.mp4) [![Image: halvar.png](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/Resources/Images/halvar.png)](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/Resources/Scenes/2025-2_MoG_40_.c4d) So, how was this done? The Spline Wrap works as a Deformer on the pencil when both have a common Parent Null Object. In the Spline Wrap, the Parent MoSpline object is linked via the [Spline](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/OMOGRAPH_SPLINEWRAP-ID_OBJECTPROPERTIES.html.md) field. This MoSpline object is in turn affected by [Wind](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/OWIND.html.md). This is then multiplied by a Cloner object. # Example 3 As mentioned in the previous example, [Force objects](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/5456.html.md) have an effect on MoSplines. For example, you can use the [Turbulence](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/OTURBULENCE.html.md) or [Wind](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/OWIND.html.md) object to create streamlines by cloning a MoSpline object. The individual MoSplines then form themselves according to the force field lines, which then looks something like this: ![Image: 2025-2_mospline_01_.png](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/Resources/Images/2025-2_mospline_01_.png) Cloned MoSplines in a turbulence field at a specific point in time. > **Tip:** Note:For the flow specialists among you: do not confuse these **flow lines** with the similar but different results of a Tracer that records particle paths. These are so-called **path lines**. Flow lines indicate the instantaneous direction of velocity (tangent) at a specific point in time.
