It projects the points of its parent object onto a target surface along a chosen direction — wrapping flat geometry like labels, roads or patterns onto arbitrary shapes. The projection deformer moves or, more precisely, projects the points of its superordinated object to it onto a target object to be defined arbitrarily. You can define a projection direction, which is displayed in the view by means of 4 arrows. ![Image: 2024_02_projection_deformer.png](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/Resources/Images/2024_02_projection_deformer.png) If no target object surface is found in the specified direction, corresponding object points will remain unchanged: If you want to project only parts of an object (e.g., the bottom side), you can, for example, place a linear field in the Fields tab, as shown below: ![Image: 2024_03_projection_deformer.png](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/Resources/Images/2024_03_projection_deformer.png) The lower area of the blue suction cup - defined by a linear field - is projected onto the sphere.
