# Character Solver Tag

> This page describes the **Character Solver tag** in **Cinema 4D**. Together with Character Definition tags, it transfers animation from one character to another (retargeting) — the key to reusing mocap clips or existing animation on new rigs.

Motion transfer or re-targeting is achieved by adding a Character Solver tag to the target character you would like the animation to be transferred to. It can be found in the Rigging tags>Character Solver contextual menu of the Object Manager.
