## Options

### Mode

Parameter ID: `MDATA_KNIFEPATH_MODE`

Loop

In this mode, an automatic loop recognition will be used that can be controlled somewhat using the **Stop Cut At Ngon** and **Stop Cut At Pole** options.

Without polygon or edge selections, this tool will work like the Loop mode. However, if you first select a coherent selection path, the tool will try to follow this path (starting from the edge beneath the cursor).

An edge selection should look like that which the [Ring Selection](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/TOOLRINGSELECTION.html.md) tool makes in Use Edge mode.

### Offset Mode

Parameter ID: `MDATA_KNIFEPATH_OFFSET_MODE`

### Offset

Parameter ID: `MDATA_KNIFEPATH_OFFSET` · Range: [0..100%]

### Distance

Parameter ID: `MDATA_KNIFEPATH_DISTANCE` · Range: [0..+∞m]

Left **Offset Mode** set to Proportional, right to Edge Distance.

The Offset Mode defines how the loop cut should react to different polygon widths:

- **Proportional**: The cut will be made in a distance (defined by the **Offset** value) relative to the neighboring edge
- **Edge Distance**: The cut will be made parallel to the respective edge. Each cut point will, if possible, have the exact same **Distance** from the next point

The **Offset** and **Distance** values are calculated starting from the reference point (green point). Enable the **Toggle Direction** option if the cut is made from the wrong edge when **Offset Mode** is set to Edge Distance.

### Number of Cuts

Parameter ID: `MDATA_KNIFEPATH_CUT_NUMBER` · Range: [1..2147483647]

This setting defines the number of loop cuts. This can also be done interactively in the Viewport by clicking on an orange loop cut with the MMB and dragging horizontally.

### Restrict To Selection

Parameter ID: `MDATA_KNIFEPATH_SELECTED`

If enabled, only selected polygons or edges will be cut.

### Select Cuts

Parameter ID: `MDATA_KNIFEPATH_SELECT_CUT`

If enabled, newly created cut lines will be selected (visible only in Use Edge mode).

### Connect Cut Edges

Parameter ID: `MDATA_KNIFEPATH_CUTPOLYS`

If enabled, polygons will also be cut. Otherwise only edges will be cut.
