## Direct 3D Export

> **Note:** **What is it about?**
>
> This page refers to the **Direct 3D (.x) export** in **Cinema 4D**. It writes the legacy DirectX mesh format — retained for compatibility with older Windows-based engines and viewers.

## General

- Typical extension \*.x, ASCII Format, MESH and FRAME format.
- Zoom factor for entire scene, automatic indenting.
- Rename texture name to any extension.
- Texture information (UV coordinates and texture names)
- Texture channels: Color, Luminance, Specular, Reflectance, Specular Color, Transparency, environment.

> **Tip:** Tip:For all scenes to display properly with a Direct3D Viewer it is necessary for all textures to have an edge length of a power of 2 (i.e. 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024,…).
