# Linear Field

> This page covers the **Linear Field** in **Cinema 4D**. It creates a directional falloff along its X-axis — one of the fundamental Field shapes for sweeping transitions across clones, points or weights.

This field is a field whose effect is restricted/masked by its limits in the X-axis, which can be mixed with other fields and modifier layers in the corresponding field lists (e.g. for effectors or deformers).

Note the handles with which you can interactively adjust the field size.
