## Surface Normal Attenuation

![Image: 004135.jpg](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/Resources/Images/004135.jpg)\
Glow color that changes depending on the direction of each surface normal.

The direction of surface Normals can be taken into account by the glow, causing the glow's color or intensity to change depending on a surface's direction.

### Use

Parameter ID: `GW_SN_USE`

### Shininess

Parameter ID: `GW_SN_SH` · Range: [0..100%]

This parameter controls the glow's highlights, similar to the **Reflection** material channel's Specular settings.

### Use

Parameter ID: `GW_SN_SIZEON`

### Size

Parameter ID: `GW_SN_GSIZE`

### Use

Parameter ID: `GW_SN_DENSON`

### Density

Parameter ID: `GW_SN_GDENS`

### Use

Parameter ID: `GW_SN_LUMON`

### Luminosity

Parameter ID: `GW_SN_GLUM`

### Use

Parameter ID: `GW_SN_GCOL`

### Color

Parameter ID: `GW_SN_GRAD`

You can use gradients to refine the following glow properties from the **Glow** page: Size, Intensity, Luminosity and Color (see **Glow** entry).

![Image: 004137.jpg](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/Resources/Images/004137.jpg)

Think of these gradients as being in the area between the Normals that point at the camera and the Normals that are perpendicular to the camera.

In the gradient, black represents a value of 0, white represents the value defined on the **Glow** page.
