# Noise Selection

> **Note:** **What is it about?**
>
> This page covers the **Noise Selection node** of the Scene Nodes system in **Cinema 4D**. It creates organically clustered, random-looking polygon selections from noise — natural patchiness for weathering, decay or variation effects.

With this Node you can have a random looking polygon selection created.

The Noise Selection creates a polygon selection based on the common noise patterns, which - as in this case - can be saved as a selection and used to constrain a material on the surface, for example.
