> This page describes the **Not node** of the Scene Nodes system in **Cinema 4D**. It inverts boolean values — true becomes false — the elementary logic building block for branching conditions in node setups.

This Node processes boolean signals, i.e., the values *true* and *false*. Such boolean values are generated e.g., by a [Compare Node](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/NET_MAXON_NODE_COMPARE.html.md) or can also be sent directly to an asset group as a user data option.\
The *Not* Node simply reverses a boolean value. So *true* becomes *false*, or *false* becomes *true*.\
Boolean values can then be combined with a [If Node](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/NET_MAXON_NODE_IF.html.md), for example, to process different values. In addition, a [Boolean Operator Node](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/NET_MAXON_NODE_BOOLEANOPERATOR.html.md) is also available to compare or combine boolean values.
