## Inputs

### Geometry

Parameter ID: `GEOMETRY`

Here you forward the geometry to the node for which you want to read out information such as normals, colors or UV coordinates.

### Type

Parameter ID: `ACCESSORTYPE`

In this menu you select the type of information you want to output in interpolated form. You can choose from point positions, colors, normals and weightings. The calculation of the values is based on the specification of the polygon number(**Polygon Index**) and a **Position** that should be at least close to this polygon. The corresponding values of the corner points involved in this polygon are then evaluated and linearly interpolated according to the individual distances to the specified **Position**.

- *Point Positions*: A 3D vector is output here that specifies the surface position in the vicinity of the **Position** specification on the polygon of the geometry specified via **Polygon Index**.
- *Normals*: If normals are also present on a polygon geometry, the interpolated surface normal can be output for the specified **Position** within the **Polygon Index** polygon. The output is a normalized vector. Normal information can be generated, for example, by converting a [Phong Tag](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/TPHONG-ID_TAGPROPERTIES.html.md) on a polygon object (see **Create Normal Tag** button on *Phong Tags*) or also via nodes, such as [Generate Point Normals](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/NET_MAXON_NEUTRON_ASSET_GEO_GENERATEPOINTNORMALS.html.md), [Create Normals if missing](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/NET_MAXON_NEUTRON_ASSET_GEO_CREATENORMALSIFMISSING.html.md) or individually via a [Geometry Property Set](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/NET_MAXON_NEUTRON_GEOMETRY_SET_PROPERTY.html.md) Node.
- *Color Alpha*: Color values including available alpha values can be output here. Color values can be assigned to the points of the geometry, e.g. via a [Vertex Color Tag](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/TVERTEXCOLOR.html.md) or via nodes, such as [Geometry Property Set](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/NET_MAXON_NEUTRON_GEOMETRY_SET_PROPERTY.html.md).
- *UV*: If the geometry has assigned UV coordinates, this can be used to output the UV coordinates interpolated between the corner points of the specified **Polygon Index** polygon that are close to the specified **Position**.
- *Weight*: Weight values can be assigned via a [Vertex Map](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/TVERTEXMAP.html.md) tag or via a [Geometry Property Set](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/NET_MAXON_NEUTRON_GEOMETRY_SET_PROPERTY.html.md) node, for example, and contain values between 0.0 and 1.0 for the points of a geometry.

The following two properties are only available for a spline geometry and can therefore not be assigned to or read from a mesh geometry. The separate node [Spline Property Interpolate](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/NET_MAXON_NEUTRON_GEOMETRY_SPLINE_INTERPOLATE.html.md) is available for processing a spline geometry. In addition, the [Evaluate Spline](https://help.maxon.net/c4d/en-us/Content/html/NET_MAXON_NEUTRON_GEOMETRY_SPLINE_EVALUATE.html.md) node also enables access to any positions and tangents along a spline.

- *Tangent*: This information is only supported on a spline geometry. Tangents are generally saved as *Tuples*, in this case as a structure of two 3D vectors, through which the left and right tangents of a spline point are specified.
- *Corner*: On splines, these bool values can be used to define whether a point should have a tangent or whether the spline course should be hard interpolated at a point. This information is not supported on a mesh geometry.

### Name

Parameter ID: `ACCESSORNAME`

Data sets, e.g. for UV coordinates, weights or vertex colors, can be present several times on a geometry and can be distinguished from each other by their names. If no name is specified, the first data set of the matching type found is used.

### Polygon Index

Parameter ID: `POLYGONINDEX` · Range: [0..2147483647]

Enter the polygon index on the **Geometry** that you want to read out for the **Position** input.

### Position

Parameter ID: `VALUEIN` · Range: [XYZ ]

Here you use the position on the surface of the geometry for which you want to retrieve the information selected under **Type**. You can also use positions that are not exactly on the surface. The closest position on the specified polygon is then automatically evaluated.
