# Spline Mapper

> **Note:** **What is it about?**

> This page describes the **Spline Mapper node** of the classic node materials in **Cinema 4D**. It remaps values non-linearly through an editable curve — precise falloff shaping, often paired with the Range Mapper.

Contrary to the Range Mapper, the Spline Mapper also allows a non-linear recalculation of input values, which means it can, for example, be used to recalculate brightness values individually. In this example, this method a simple noise was used to create a more complex structure that is used to color a bump effect.

This Node offers a spline curve that can be used to recalculate values non-linearly. This Node can be used in combination with the Range Mapper to recalculate values to a new value range.
