# Emission

> **Note:** **What is it about?**
>
> This page covers the **Emission node** of the classic node materials in **Cinema 4D**. It defines a material's self-illumination color and intensity — the source for glowing surfaces and luminous accents.

Emission makes a surface glow and eliminates shading effects. In addition, emission generates illumination on other surfaces with diffuse reflectivity or a diffuse BSDF layer

> **Tip:** Note:
>
> This Node is only available when editing a classic Cinema 4D Node Material.

This Node defines the color and intensity of the self-luminous properties of a given material.
