# Untriangulate

> **Note:** **What is it about?**

> This page documents the **Untriangulate command** in **Cinema 4D**. It converts triangle meshes back into quads or n-gons — a cleanup essential for geometry imported from CAD or game formats before further modeling or subdivision.

If a given object is only made up of triangles (e.g., an object exported by another application or you called up the **Triangulate** command), Cinema 4D can, in consideration of numerous parameters, convert these triangles back to quads or n-gons.
