Decay

A Spherical Field leaves its footprint on a Vertex Map using the movement path shown at left (without Decay Layer). At right with Decay Layer at different velocities.

The Decay Layer is similar to the Delay Layer but influences the temporal course of modification (based on the Field list of the Fields/Modifiers arranged in front of it; this also includes changes in color, for example) and can also have an effect outside of the Field’s area of effect.

For example, if a clone moves from one animation frame from Y=0 to Y=100 in the next frame and Y=0 in the next, i.e., completes a very abrupt movement, the Decay Field will ensure that a slow, abating movement (the speed can be adjusted) is generated instead.

More precisely (to set it apart from the Delay Layer): This is an immediate value increase with delayed decay (or vice-versa).
