Simulation Scene

Tip: Simulation project preferences and the Simulation Scene object have identical settings, which are, however, only described here. These settings can also be found via the Help. Don't be surprised if you are taken to the tag's settings if you clicked on the Help for the Simulation project settings.

The Simulation project settings.

The Simulation project settings can be found in the Attribute Manager's Project / Simulation menu. These are currently used, among others, by the Cloth simulation and apply for ALL Simulation tags not assigned to Simulation Scene objects.

You will therefore find identical settings in a simulation scene object.

The simulation scene object

The simulation scene object can be found in the main menu under "Simulate". It has exactly the same settings as the Simulation project settings. So what now? Imagine you have the same scene in two separate simulations. After doing a lot of fine-tuning you achieve the desired result for simulation 1 with 82 Substeps. So far so good: You achieve the desired result for simulation 2 using 112 Substeps. If you had a common default you would not get the overall result you want. The solution: 2 separate Simulation Scene objects. One for each simulation with respective settings.

The following rules apply:

It is thus no longer necessary - as in the old Cloth system - to combine different, interacting garments in one object. You can simply assign multiple Cloth tags to a single Simulation Scene object.
