Sun

Create Physical Sun

Use this command to create a new Redshift Physical Sun light and link it to the Physical Sky environment object. By using the RS Sun & Sky Rig, both objects are created automatically at the same time.

Remove Physical Sun

The linked Redshift Physical Sun will be deleted from the scene.

Sun

Here you can link to any Redshift Physical Sun light object in your scene. Just Drag & Drop a Physical Sun from the Object Manager to this field. The orientation of that sunlight object will control the placement of the visible sun in the sky and also the color and intensity of the sun illumination

Sun Direction[XYZ ]

The Physical Sky environment doesn't need a separate Physical Sun to render the sun disk or its illumination. Just use this vector to describe the direction of sunlight. The simulation of the sun illumination and sun display is done accordingly. However, using a separate Physical Sun object can simplify the animation of the sun's position.

Sun Disk Intensity[-∞..+∞]

This option allows you to scale the brightness of the visible sun disk.

Sun Disk Scale[-∞..+∞]

Use this value to scale the sun disc. The size of the sun in the sky and thus the size of the light source relative to the scene affects the shadow calculation. The smaller the area of the sun, the harder the shadows will be. A large sun leads to a calculation of softer shadows.

The default Sun Disc Scale on the left, a large Sun Disc Scale on the right.

Sun Glow Intensity[-∞..+∞]

Use this value to scale the intensity of the visible glow around the sun.

The left image shows the default Sun Glow Intensity, on the right a value of 15 was used.

Sun Tint

The sunlight color calculated by the sun position is multiplied by this color. Only when using white the sunlight remains physically correct. Otherwise, the illumination of the sun can be adjusted artistically with this.

The left image shows the original sunlight, using a white Sun Tint color. On the right, a pink color was used to tint the sunlight.
