UV Map Settings

The UV Map menu offers a collection of UV editing parameters for the selected subtool.

Palettes > Tool > UV Map

Morph UV

The Morph UV toggle transforms the selected 3D model into its flat UV layout. Use Morph UV to flatten the model's surface for sculpting and painting and then revert it to its original form.

ZBrush for iPad Morph UV works the same way in ZBrush desktop. Learn more in the external ZBrush desktop Sculpt & Polypaint MorphUV section.

Bump

The Bump parameter controls the sculptural bump strength displayed when the Morph UV state is active.

Delete UV

Deletes existing UV coordinates from the selected subtool.

UV Map Size

Defines the width and height of the UV map for the selected subtool. Adjusting the slider or inputting a value in the field applies the size change to the UV coordinates.

Tap the 512, 1024, 2048, and 4096 preset size buttons to apply their size change.

8092 x 8092 is the maximum supported size.

UV Map Border

Applies an overpaint to the UV borders. The Borders parameter defines the number of pixels for the overpaint.

A UV map overpaint refers to the process of adjusting or painting over UV borders to refine its texture layout or correct imperfections.

The overpaint process involves:

Correcting seams: Fixing areas where textures may not align properly across UV boundaries.

Blending textures: Smoothly integrating textures that need additional detail or correction where the UV map causes stretching or distortion.
