DynaMesh

DynaMesh is a remeshing operation that creates ideal sculpting topology at desired resolution on command.

Toggle DynaMesh on to apply below settings to the model.

Geometry > DynaMesh options

One of its primary values lies in its ability to efficiently create new topology in selected areas recently changed, leaving untouched surfaces unchanged.

DynaMesh remeshing system generates ideal polygon shape and size. DynaMesh surface is most ideal to apply clean sculpting brush strokes across the entire surface.

DynaMesh Remesh Action

press and hold Ctrl / Cmd and drag your cursor in empty canvas space. On cursor release, DynaMesh will remesh the model based on assigned settings.

Repeat this process as you sculpt to rebuild geometry in areas that produce less desirable sculpting details.

Resolution slider

Sets the base resolution that will be applied each time you toggle DynaMesh active, or after applying a DynaMesh remesh action in the canvas.

Project

When Project is active, applying DynaMesh remesh action will apply existing settings, and project the models state before remesh, to its final state after remesh.

Reducing the Resolution slider to a lower value on next DynaMesh action result in loss of surface details as the surface topology will be reduced and can no longer retain those details.

In the above scenario, enabling Project option provides you the ability to attempt projection of higher res details onto the new lower resolution surface that will be created. Some detail will always be lost in this flow, however, can make a different in capturing some details from the former surface.

Quick Steps:

1. Toggle DynaMesh active.

2. Apply sculpting details, press and hold Ctrl / Cmd and drag your cursor in empty canvas space. On cursor release, remesh action is triggered.

3. Tap Polyframe to view DynaMesh results in sculpted areas.

4. Increase DynaMesh Resolution slider and apply a DynaMesh remesh action.

Ctrl / Cmd, drag and release is a shortcut action to trigger DynaMesh remesh. Toggle DynaMesh button on and off to also apply DynaMesh settings.

A change must occur to the vertex points in between the described DynaMesh remesh action. If no change has been made to the model vertex points with a sculpting brush or smooth brush, applying Ctrl / Cmd drag action to the canvas has no effect.

This is one of the most popular methods of beginning and developing a sculpture in ZBrush before moving on to use ZRemesher & Subdivisions to create a polished high-resolution model.
