Blender Add-ons installation

After installing Redshift on your system launch Blender and open the Blender Preferences menu under the Edit drop-down menu.

Then click on the add-ons "Install" button.

Next, navigate to and select the "Redshift4Blender.zip" file in the Plugins > Blender folder where Redshift was installed. In this Blender folder are several add-on subfolders that relate to the version of Blender that is used.

Understanding the add-on numeration

The add-on numeration does not match exactly with the Blender version because it is actually based on the Python version used with Blender.

Add-on

Python version

Blender version

2.90.0

Python 3.7

Blender 2.83 to 2.90

2.93.0

Python 3.9

Blender 2.90 to 3.0

3.1.0

Python 3.10

Blender 3.1.0 to 3.3

In Windows this can generally be found at:

C:\ProgramData\redshift\Plugins\Blender\3.1.0\redshift4blender.zip

In Linux this can generally be found at:

/usr/redshift/redshift4blender

Selecting the redshift4blender.zip

After the add-on installation Redshift needs to be enabled inside Blender. The easiest way to do this is to search the add-on list for Redshift.

Make certain to disable the "Enabled Add-ons Only" option when searching.

Then click on the check box next to "Render: Redshift Render Engine" and the configuration of Redshift for Blender is complete.

It is normal to experience a brief delay while Redshift is being loaded.

Enabling Redshift

Next, please take a look at the Getting Started with Blender section to become more familiar with Redshift for Blender.

Updating Redshift

Redshift for Blender must be manually updated with each new release. The easiest way to do this is to delete the current Redshift addon folder and replace it with the contents of the new redshift4blender.zip.

With Blender closed, start by installing the latest version of Redshift, this will update the redshift4blender.zip file located at:

Windows:

C:\ProgramData\redshift\Plugins\Blender\3.1.0\redshift4blender.zip

Linux:

/usr/redshift/redshift4blender

Then navigate to the location of your Blender add-on folder and delete the redshift folder (1) located there. Extract the new "redshift" folder from the redshift4blender.zip to the Blender add-on folder (2).

By default this is located at

C:\Users\your_user_name\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\3.2\scripts\addons\redshift

Updating Redshift by copying the "redshift" folder to the Blender addons folder

Now open Blender and Redshift has been updated.
