Magic Bullet Looks
Color Management
Color management enables users to control the conversion of color depending on cameras, monitors, and other input and output formats. The goal is to achieve greater consistency when mixing a variety of sources, creating deliverables and when working with Looks within complex post pipelines. Looks support its own 1D system of color management, as well as the Academy Color Encoding System (ACES), build upon OpenColorIO. To set it up, click on either Input or Output left or right of the Tool Chain. This will open up the Color Management options in the Controls section where you will be able to select 1D Color Management or ColorIO – ACES and choose from a variety of Input, Output, and Display color transforms.
- Preset:Select the preset of Input, Output and Preview of your clips. You can also save your favorite Input, Output, and Preview as preset. This is particularly useful when you are frequently working with the same Input, Output and Preset type.
- Mode:Choose between two different ways of working.
- 1D Color Handling: Employ 1D Lookup Table to accurately map the tone curve of your clip. However, the color space will remain in the original source color space. The 1D Color Handling will only affect the tonality of your clip.
- OpenColorIO – ACES: Use ACES standardized transformation to accurately map the color and contrast of your clip. Using ACES, you can convert your clip from what the camera saw into what your display can reproduce accurately.
- Input: Select the type of the clip you are working with.
- Exposure: Increase or decrease the photographic exposure value of your clip.
- Saturation: Increase or decrease the saturation value of your clip.
- Output: Select the type of output you want to convert your clip into. You can output your clip into the display space (e.g. REC 709, sRGB, etc.) or back to camera space (e.g. LogC, SLog3, etc.) or even to the working space (e.g. ACEScct, ACEScc, ACEScg) of your preference.
- Same As Input: Quickly make your Output type the same as your input without having to go to the Output field and select it manually.
