Turbulence Strength group

The Turbulence Strength group lets you specify a layer whose luminance values define the extent to which any turbulence information is used to affect the field. Areas that are light in color (or luminance) will be affected by the Turbulence Strength settings, while darker parts will be less affected. Black parts will not be affected at all.

The amount of turbulence influence applied is set in the Turbulence Field group. If the Turbulence Field > TF Displace control is set to 0, then no deformation will occur. Once TF Displace has a value, you will see the layer map pushing particles around, and you can use the other Turbulence Field controls to affect the map.

At left, a layer with a gradient ramp. In the middle, the particle field. At right, the gradient ramp is selected as the Turbulence Strength map. In Displace > Turbulence Field, the TF Affect Size, TF Affect Opacity, and TF Displace XYZ are all set to 100.
