Getting Started

• Drag the uni.ChromaTown effect onto your clip.
• Click the Choose a Preset button to see a preview of all the presets available. Double-click any preset to apply.

Modify the Effect

• Choose a Preset: brings up an animated gallery of presets, which are applied by either double-clicking the preset, or highlighting your preset and clicking select.
• Save Preset: allows the current parameters to be saved as a custom preset.
• Chroma Style: affects the style of coloring: Chromatic Spectrum uses the entire spectrum of visible color, Start/End Colorize uses the start and end colors to tint the effect, Start/End Fill uses a more solid color to fill the effect.
• Falloff: allows a selection of falloff types, controlling the way the effect fades along the length of the effect.
• Falloff Gamma: when the Falloff dropdown has anything other than None chosen, controls the gamma curve of the falloff. 0 has no falloff and the effect is at the start or end, depending on the falloff choice. The maximum value of 10 creates a near consistent gamma along the entire effect.
• Completeness: controls the range of the effect between the start and end position.
• Completeness Center: selects the start point for the completeness control. At a Completeness Centre value of 0 the effect moves from the start position to the end position as the Completeness increases. A positive value moves the start point closer to the end position; a negative value moves the start point in a negative direction from the start position.
• Completeness Capped: when this is not selected the Completeness Center, controls the start point of the Completeness control, along a very long trajectory defined by the start and end positions. This allows the effect to work along a path defined by the start and end position, but not limited by its boundaries.
• Start
  • Start Color: determines the color used at the start of the effect.
  • Start Color Amount: controls the saturation of the start color.
  • Start Position: controls the start position of the effect.
  • Uniform Start Scale: chooses between a single scale control and a separate x/y scale.
  • Start Scale: controls scale amount when Uniform Start Scale is selected.
  • Start Scale X: controls scale amount on the x-axis when Uniform Start Scale is not selected.
  • Start Scale Y: controls scale amount on the y-axis when Uniform Start Scale is not selected.
  • Start Rotation: controls the rotation at the start position.
  • Start Lens Distortion: controls the level of lens distortion at the start position. A positive value simulates a convex lens while a negative value simulates c concave lens.
  • Start Blur: controls the amount of blur at the start of the effect. This is perfect for simulating depth of field to effects.
• End
  • End Color: determines the color used at the end of the effect.
  • End Color Amount: controls the saturation of the end color.
  • End Position: controls the start position of the effect.
  • Uniform End Scale: chooses between a single scale control and a separate x/y scale.
  • End Scale: controls scale amount when Uniform End Scale is selected.
  • End Scale X: controls scale amount on the x-axis when Uniform End Scale is not selected.
  • End Scale Y: controls scale amount on the y-axis when Uniform End Scale is not selected.
  • End Rotation: controls the rotation at the end position.
  • End Lens Distortion: controls the level of lens distortion at the end position. A positive value simulates a convex lens while a negative value simulates c concave lens.
  • End Blur: controls the amount of blur at the end of the effect. This is perfect for simulating depth of field to effects.
• Swap Start/End: swaps the start and end colors.
• Colorfulness: controls the saturation level on the entire effect.
• Alpha: controls the alpha level of the effect, with 0 being completely transparent, and 100 being new solid.
•  Chromatic Spectrum
  • Chroma Tint: controls the saturation along the effect when the Chroma Style is set to Chromatic Spectrum. At a value of 0 the saturation is at maximum over the full range of the effect. At -100 the start of the effect has no saturation, while the end is fully saturated. At 100 the end of the effect has no saturation, while the start is fully saturated.
• Start End Color
  • Start/End Color Interpolation: chooses between RGB and LAB color for processing.
  • Color Normalization: when set to 100%, the blur/streak effect converges on the images original color. At 0%, the start and end colors are used directly.
• Quality: controls the quality of the effect. The default of 30 allows for a relatively fast effect but banding can be evident. Increasing the value will smooth out the effect,but will cost in speed.
• Repeat Edges: repeats the edge pixels to fill the frame when the scale is at less than 100%.
• Linear Gamma: activates a linear gamma curve when selected.
• Composite Original: controls the composite mode used in relation to the source image. When None is selected only the effect is visible. It is also possible to composite the effect on the source using Screen, Add, Behind or In Front, the latter two being particularly useful with text effects.
• Draw Overlay: activates two guides that indicate the position, scale and rotation of both the Start and End, each identified by their respective color. Be aware that when active this will be visible in the render.
