Trapcode Particular
The Displace category offers a wide variety of motion effects you can adjust and use on both Particular- and Form-based behaviors. It's a combination of effects that were available in Particular and Form, allowing for an evolved area where we can mix these properties.
The first categories we'll examine are Drift and Spin.
Drift X, Y, Z controls push particles uniformly in the x, y, or z direction. This was how Wind behaved in previous Particular versions. When opening a project from a version prior to Particular 5, any Wind settings will migrate automatically to Drift.
Spin Amplitude
Spin Amplitude makes particles move in randomized, circular orbits. A value of 0 turns off the spinning motion. Low values make small circular orbits. High values make large circular orbits. This behavior is useful for adding randomness to particle motion, so animation looks more natural. Amplitude can also create a swarming appearance.
Spin Frequency
Spin Frequency sets how fast spinning particles move in their orbit. Low values mean particles spin slowly in their orbit. Higher values make particles spin faster. The clips below were rendered with Motion Blur to illustrate the motion clearly.

Fade-in Spin (seconds)
Fade-in Spin (measured in seconds) sets how long the particle lives before it being fully affected by the spin. High values mean the spin takes a while to affect particles, which makes the animation fade in gradually over time.
