Particle Physics

Particle Physics define the properties of particles, which in turn determine how they interact with their Environment.

(Bowling balls and feathers set to their own Mass and Air Resistance will react differently to the same Air Density, Gravity, and Wind.)

Mass

Assign a Mass value to your particles to approximate the amount of matter they contain. This will affect how forces like gravity and wind move the particles. Values range from 0.1 to 1000, with a default setting of 10. Particles can never have a mass of 0.

Mass Random

Mass Random sets the randomness for Mass as a percentage. Higher values mean the more randomness, and particles have more variation in mass.

Size Affects Mass

When turned all the way up to 100%, particles' size will affect how much mass they have. At the default setting of 0%, there is no difference to the mass if particle size varies.

Air Resistance

Also referred to as drag, Air Resistance results from an object's leading surface colliding with air molecules. By changing particles' Air Resistance, you will alter how much they respond to Environment controls, such as Gravity, Wind, and Air Turbulence. Values range from 0 to 100, with a default setting of 0.5.

NOTE: Air Resistance settings can impact how other controls work. If set very high, particles may not be able to penetrate your Air Density, resulting in them sitting in place forever, bored and lonely. If set to 0, nothing will alter their path, such as Wind. This is why the default value is 0.5, to allow for enough air resistance for your particles to at least react to their environment.

Air Resistance Random

Sets the randomness (as a percentage) for the particle’s Air Resistance. Higher values mean higher randomness, and particles have more variation in air resistance.

Size Affects Air Resistance

When turned all the way up to 100%, particles' size will affect how much air resistance they have, as if their surface area has increased or decreased. At the default setting of 0%, there is no difference to the air resistance if particle size varies.

Rotational Air Resistance

When set above the default level of 0, Air Resistance will add some rotational movement to your particles as they are buffeted by environmental forces.
