The float comma value output here represents the result of the Ambient Occlusion calculation in a range between 0 (black) and 1 (white).

Average Normal [XYZ ]

The smoothed Normal direction of the currently calculated surface point.

In conjunction with the Basic Node, mathematical noise patterns can be created, e.g., that can be used as a relief or simulating a surface roughness.
