Here you will find the progressions generated by the Node as color values.

Distance [-∞..+∞]

The values output here will lie between 0 and 1 and they define a linear brightness progression in the area between the spiral arms. The regions with the greatest distance from the flanking arms output a value of 1. The nearer the position is to the outer edges of the arms, the smaller the output value will be. A value of 0 will be output consistently in the area of the arms. Anti-aliasing for the arms doesn’t play a role for this output.

Mask [-∞..+∞]

This numeric value has a range of between 0 and 1 and denotes the areas in which the spiral arms lie, including anti-aliasing. The completely opaque regions of the spiral arms are assigned an output of 1, and the anti-aliased edge of the shape have values ranging from 0 to 1 A value of 0 is generally output for the open background area.
