Environment Object Basic Coord. Object
Use the Environment object to define several global scene parameters such as the scene’s environment light (also known as ambient lighting).
By default, only the topmost Environment object in the hierarchy will be rendered. If you want to change the environment during an animation, use the Stage object with a parameter track.
You can use the Environment object with volumetric shaders. Plugins or the optional PyroCluster can be used in this way to create effects such as smoke and fog. Simply apply the shader to the Environment object as a texture.
Follow these steps for assigning a volumetric Shader to an Environment object:
- Create a volumetric Shader by selecting one in the Material Manager (Create / Shader / PyroCluster).
- The Shader will now be displayed in the Material Manager. Now simply Drag & drop the material from the Material Manager onto the Environment object in the Object Manager. The projection type plays no role in this case because the Environment object does not have defined dimensions or a shape.
- If you want to modify this Shader’s settings, simply select it in the Material Manager and its settings will be displayed in the Attribute Manager or Material Manager.
