# Mask By Depth

A set of parameters to mask parts of the surface closest to the camera based on the camera's direction towards the model.

Palettes > Tool > Masking

## Mask By Depth

Creates a depth mask based on the Blur Depth and Depth Profile settings.

> **Note:** Mask By Depth operates in a single-use mode, meaning each tap creates a new mask based on the settings rather than layering masks with repeated taps.

## Blur Depth

Defines the blur applied to the mask when the Mask By Depth button is pressed.

> **Note:** Higher settings create a blurred mask falloff that extends further along the camera's line of sight toward the model.

## Depth Profile

Modify the profile curve to adjust the mask's appearance and tap Mask By Depth to apply the Depth Profile as a new mask.
