These settings define if a brush will apply an additive or subtractive sculptural effect.

Brush strokes offer an additive effect that build outward from the surface.

> **Note:** When **ZAdd** is selected, press the Alt/Option modifier to swap temporarily to **ZSub**.

Brush strokes offer a subtractive effect that push into the surface.
