OBJ Export
Wavefront obj (in the following referred to as OBJ) is one of the most-used 3D formats worldwide. There are numerous options to ensure that objects are exported as desired (e.g., the proper coordinate system).
The OBJ Import/Export imports and exports the following:
- Geometry, including all UV coordinates. Splines (lines) can currently only be imported.
- Materials and textures: OBJ and the Cinema 4D material system cannot be translated quite 1:1. Nevertheless, as many material channels as possible will be imported/exported. Textures will also be assumed.
- Animations as OBJ file sequences.
- The OBJ import/export supports the Adobe Dimension PBR material system (in Cinema 4D, for example, with the Beckmann and GGX types).
The OBJ format is an ASCII format, i.e., the files can be opened in a normal texture editor. OBJ files to be imported must have the suffix .obj, otherwise Cinema 4D will not be able to read the file.
Most of the OBJ Import/Export settings have identical names and perform very similar tasks.
