An object’s matrix is made up of four vectors. The first vector is relatively easy to define since it’s simply the object’s position. The next vectors define the direction of the three spatial axes of the object axis system. Here, certain rules have to be followed, e.g., that these vectors must each lie perpendicular to one another. The length of the directional vectors also plays a role because this is identical to the object’s size in the respective direction.
To simplify the creation of a matrix, this Node offers settings with which the desired scaling and rotation of the object can be defined directly. This means that you don’t have to calculate the three values yourself.
