Trace Multi-Ray
Preview Basic Inputs Outputs ContextTrace Multi-Ray
The Trace Multi-Ray node can send sample rays in any number of directions simultaneously. Various types of information can be gathered at the point of impact. For example, the average distance between these collisions and the start point can be calculated. In this example, the rays are directed at a colored cube. Surfaces that cannot see the cube directly remain darker than the regions that face the cube. A simple direction-based Ambient Occlusion is created. This node can output a bundle of calculation rays and their results. This makes it possible, for example, to measure distances to neighboring surfaces, as is needed for calculating Subsurface Scattering or Ambient Occlusion.
