Convert Vertex Map
Using this command, one Vertex Map tag (or up to four) can be converted to a Vertex Color tag. Converting the other way around is also possible whereby a Vertex Color tag can be converted to up to four Vertex Map tags (named R, G and B and A). Why four? Well, a Vertex Color tag can have 3-4 ,channels’: R (red), G (green), B (blue) and A (alpha). A Vertex Map tag on the other hand contains only a single channel.
When importing scenes from foreign formats, it can occur that colors arrive in the form of 3 Vertex Maps. In such cases, this command can be used to convert them.
Use this setting to define what should be converted:
The Fill Vertex Color mode uses a defined Color to color a Vertex Map (the tag must be dragged into the field of the same name). This makes it possible, for example, to create a red gradient from a grayscale gradient (or a blue tone as in the image above). The result is always a Vertex Color tag. The other settings work as described above.
Source and Target Settings
Invert
Depending on what you want to convert, you will find either 1 Source and 4 Target or 4 Source and 1 Target field (Fill Vertex Color is slightly different and is described below). At least one of the Source fields must always be filled because these are the input tags. If you want to modify existing tags, drag these into the respective Target field.
Otherwise you have to create new tags that are converted directly using the Create button. If the Invert option is enabled, the respective grayscale will be inverted (light to dark and vice-versa).
Click on the Convert button to convert the Target tag.
