Asset Browser
If you download Assets from Maxon servers, they must be saved somewhere. This happens under the file path defined here. If you do not change this, you will be able to access already downloaded Assets with future versions without further action - without having to download them again.
You can also define your own paths here if you wish.
Assets already downloaded from Maxon can be deleted from your hard disk. These can be downloaded again in the browser at any time.
To the right of the button, you can see how much storage space the downloaded Assets occupy. This storage space can be released with Clear Downloaded.
Click on the Refresh button to update the storage space display - in case you have deleted or downloaded Assets in the meantime.
There are Assets that may not correspond to your purchased license. These are normally hidden, but by activating this option they can still be displayed in the browser. This option can also be switched in the Asset Browser menu under View.
Define the size with which the previews are saved internally here. This is the maximum size that can be displayed in the preview if it is enlarged accordingly. Please note that the physical size of the internal database will quickly swell considerably if you define values that are too large here.
Watch Folders
If the "tex" folder of an open scene file is to be automatically defined as a watched folder, activate this option.
Enable automatic preview generation
If you have defined folders as Watch Folders, newly added files are automatically scanned there and their preview images are generated.
If Enable AI is activated, all suitable assets are also prepared for the AI search.
The AI search cannot work without a preview: it relies on images.
Enable preview generation for all 3d formats
If all other 3D file types (e.g. Fbx, Obj etc.) are also to receive preview images - because the AI search can only work with these - this option must be activated. But be careful: if these are faulty, Cinema 4D may crash!
Cinema 4D scenes are always provided with preview images regardless of this option.
AI
Enable AI (runs locally on your machine)
If you want to use the AI search in the Asset Browser, this option must be activated. If it is deactivated, the background process mentioned below will NOT run. The AI search then cannot work in the Asset Browser or in other places where an AI search is possible (e.g. in the bitmap shader or in the Project Asset Inspector).
The AI search runs in a background process called "MXAI ImageSense Service". This background process is started or ended with this option. If this option is activated, it is started when Cinema 4D is started and ended when it is closed.
The process requires memory, both PC memory and GPU memory, and can therefore be switched off here.
AI Service Port[-2147483648..2147483647]
The AI search service just mentioned communicates with Cinema 4D under this port. You do not normally need to change anything here unless you are running other applications with this port.
The AI search normally decides for itself whether to use the graphics card or CPU (Automatic detection option). Whenever possible, it will prefer the graphics card, as this is approximately 10 times faster than the CPU. If there are problems with this setting, you can activate the graphics card (Force On) or the CPU (Force Off) for the AI calculation here.
