Substance Shader

The Substance Shader loads one of the available output channels of a Substance 3D asset (see also Substance) as a texture in material channels and wherever shaders can be placed.

Substance Shaders are usually created automatically and loaded in the corresponding material channels when you use the Load Substance... command, e.g., from the Extensions menu of Cinema 4D or the File menu of the Substance Asset Manager. However, you can also load the Substance Shader manually, assign it to an asset already loaded in the Substance Asset Manager and then select the corresponding output channel.

If the link from asset to Substance Shader goes wrong (e.g., because the Substance Shader was loaded manually and initially has no link to an asset), the error texture shown below will be loaded. Then relink the Substance Shader (parameter Asset).

A manually loaded Substance Shader will not yet contain a link to one of the Substance Assets available in the Substance Asset Manager and therefore will display a corresponding warning symbol.
