Redshift Object Settings

This section describes the Redshift-specific options that can be set on a per-object basis.

OBJ or SOP

All the mesh options covered in this topic can be configured on each OBJ, but many of them can also be added at the SOP level by using the "redshift_objectParametersSOP."

The ObjectParameters SOP works by automatically breaking a Houdini OBJ node into multiple Redshift objects behind the scenes. Internally the object parameters are assigned to each part by creating a primitive level attribute, "rs_parmsoverride_data," which holds an encoded string with the selected parameters.

SOP Limitations

  • Only supports polygons and curves
  • Instancing of objects using this SOP can only be done using Redshift Point Clouds. Redshift instances are not supported.
  • Tessellation continuity between surfaces may be broken if different subdivision parameters are used within the same object.
