Particle > Rotation Subgroup
The Rotation group allows you to rotate particles on any axis, in any orientation, and in different directions.
Orient to Motion
Orient to Motion lets particles orient to the direction they are moving. For example, an arrow can point in the direction it moves. By default, at 0%, Orient to Motion is turned off. Dial it up for the desired amount of particle orientation.
Orient to Motion Fade-In
This control allows you to adjust how quickly particles orient to changes in motion.
Orient to Spline
This control allows you to adjust, as a percentage, how much particles orient their direction along the path of a text or mask emitter.
Rotate X, Y, Z
Rotates the particles around the x, y, and/or z axes. X and Y are only visible on Sprites when Face Camera is turned off.
- Rotation X. Sets the rotation around the x axis.
- Rotation Y. Sets the rotation around the y axis.
- Rotation Z. Sets the rotation around the z axis. This is enabled for Sprites with Face Camera on and the Star particle selected.
Random Rotation
This control adds randomness to the Rotation setting. More specifically, this parameter rotates the particle around a random axis, which can be useful for getting a more natural-looking effect wherein all particles have a unique orientation in space.
Degrees/sec X, Y, Z
In Degrees/second, you can set the particle's rotation speed separately for each axis. X and Y are only visible on Sprites when Face Camera is turned off.
- Rotation Speed X. Rotation speed on the x axis.
- Rotation Speed Y. Rotation speed on the y axis.
- Rotation Speed Z. Rotation speed on the z axis. This is enabled for Sprites with Face Camera on and the Star particle selected.
Random Speed Rotate
Rotates particles using random speeds. This is very useful in giving a natural appearance, as when making explosions.
Random Speed Distribution
Enables fine-tuning of Rotation Speed randomness. The default value of 0.5 is the normal, Gaussian distribution. Setting the value to 1 will give a flat, even distribution.
