DEM Import

What is it about?

This page documents the DEM import in Cinema 4D. It loads Digital Elevation Model terrain data as geometry — a direct way to bring real-world landscapes into a scene; export is not supported.

General

  • Cinema 4D does not support the DEM-SDTS format.
  • The VistaPro DEM format (binary) is supported.
  • Files to be imported need to have the extension '.DEM' because the file itself contains no information about its origin. DEM files without this filename extension cannot be read by ­Cinema 4D.

DEM files are often used for landscapes. This file format can only be imported.
