Shift array

What is it about?

This page describes the Shift Array node of the Scene Nodes system in Cinema 4D. It rotates the order of array elements up or down the index list — reordering data such as point coordinates without changing the values themselves.

In an array, data is organized in a type of numbered list. You know this, for example, from the point coordinates of an object. With this Node, the data in this list can be moved in such a way that its index number changes. So the data moves up or down the list. The coordinates of the original first point of an object (in the array this information can be found under index number 0) can then be moved to index 1, for example. Accordingly, all subsequent records must also be moved down one index entry. Since the total size of the array remains constant by default, the previously last point coordinate in the array is then moved to the beginning of the list, to index 0. Alternatively, the Node also offers cropping. This means that values moved beyond the original index range of the array cannot reappear at the beginning or end of the Array. This also allows the Array to be shortened as desired.
