Scatter Placement

What is it about?

This page describes the Scatter object in Cinema 4D. Created by the Scatter Placement tool, it stores the painted instances and lets you edit, replace or delete them afterwards — the persistent container behind brush-based set dressing.

A control object will be generated when the Scatter tool is used and serves to subsequently modify the instances (e.g., replace, delete, move, scale if the Edit mode is enabled in the Object tab) or to delete the placement operation for the object entirely.

Select the Scatter object when the Scatter tool is active in order to add "bruch strokes" to the object using the clones saved within it.

Scatter objects can be made editable by pressing the c key on your keyboard, which will make the instances visible.
