HUD
In this section of the UV Editor's configuration settings, you will find additional information that can be displayed directly as text or numerical values in the UV Editor's HUD (Head-Up Display). Similar options are also available in the separate Configure dialog for the HUD in the viewports.
This displays the total number of vertices, edges, polygons, and N-gons in the geometry shown in the UV Editor. The HUD display is automatically filtered based on the modeling mode. For example, the number of UV Points is only visible in Point Mode. Additionally, when analyzing N-gons, their internal polygons are also included in Total UV Polygons.
This displays the currently selected number of vertices, edges, polygons, and N-gons in the geometry shown in the UV Editor. Please note that the currently selected editing mode affects this. For example, to view the number of selected polygons, you must also have Polygon Mode selected. Additionally, when analyzing N-gons, their internal polygons are also counted.
Enabling this option will display several view statistics in the HUD, such as the number of triangles, lines, points and patches. Please note that this is not an analysis of the geometry or its UV elements, but rather a statistical overview of the elements to be processed by the graphics card. This information is therefore of a more technical nature and may only be of interest to developers.
This displays the name of the currently active tool in the HUD. This not only includes native UV tools, but also modeling tools.
Using the Filter settings, you can activate and display a regular grid in the UV Editor, which can help you better estimate the proportions of UV polygons and islands when zoomed in on a UV tile. Since this grid can also dynamically adjust its spacing to be finer or coarser when zooming in and out, the current spacing of the grid lines can also be displayed as HUD information with this option. This corresponds to the Grid Spacing display in the viewports, except that regular distance units are used there.
You can select the color space for the color value transformation in the View settings of the Configure dialog. Thanks to this option, this setting can also be displayed directly in the HUD.
The following settings affect the colors and visual appearance of HUD elements in the UV Editor. The available options are identical to those for HUD elements in the viewports.
Use this setting to define the HUD's background color.
Use this setting to define the degree of opacity of the HUD's background.
Use this setting to define the color of text.
Use this setting to define the degree of opacity of the text.
Use this setting to define the color of text for active HUD elements.
If active, you will not be able to manipulate an object lying beneath a HUD element. Mouse actions will only affect the HUD element. We recommend you deactivate this setting since both HUD elements and objects lying beneath the HUD can be edited. The following applies:
- Alt+Click: Mouse affects HUD elements.
- With no additional keys pressed: HUD will be ignored and the mouse will only affect objects that lie beneath the HUD.
