Scales each selected UV polygon to fit the texture. On the mapped object, each selected polygon will display the entire UV tile.
This completely breaks the connection between the UV polygons of a UV island.

Here, a texture featuring a white circle on a black background was assigned. By running Max UV, all of the sphere's polygons were placed individually and at their maximum size within the UV tile (see right side of the figure). As a result, every polygon on the surface shows one texture tile with the circle.
